China and silverware is being bought, RSVP's are coming in, Make up Trial is complete...the only thing I still seem to be waiting on is my wedding dress!

Had lots of fun with my Aunt and the make up trial...

My mother did an AMAZING job arranging my bridal bouquet...

...And the bridesmaids bouquets too!

Blessings...45 Days to Go!

I can hardly believe that the wedding is less than 7 weeks away!

I've been doing a lot of thinking today. If you live here in the area, you know that this summer is one of the driest times we've seen in years. Everything is dying and shriveling up. In short, the green, lush yard I dreamed of getting married in...yeah. Not happening. (Unless, of course, the weather decides to be bipolar! It is welcome by me!)

Today I went into the library to cool off and read the tabloids (I rarely do this...but I'll admit that this Katie Holmes vs. Tom Cruise debacle is too interesting to resist.), and I saw that the new issue of Brides magazine was on the shelf! Naturally, I flipped through it to see if there was any little tidbits I could glean from it's pages.  I came across an article that talked about how all brides have issues with their guest lists, and normally are forced into some sort of compromise over their dream wedding.

Do they like the compromise? Not at first. But when asked how their wedding turned out, it was always better than she ever could have imagined.

So am I going to be upset and dejected that because I'm getting married this summer I get dead grass?

NOPE!

(But feel free to rain on my parade!)

I don't like to post without a picture. I took this one in our very dry prarie on Monday!

Something Blue...47 Days!

So, I forgot that I never finished out my "Something Old, Something New" series with Something Blue!

Something blue has been one of the more challenging things to incorporate into my bridal ensemble. I'd always thought it would be fun to have adorable vintagesque blue shoes like these...

And have my bridesmaids wear blue dresses like this...

Sometimes I'm not sure why I picked Pink as my main wedding color. Actually...since I'm thinking about it, I don't know why I did. BUT, it's too late to change now!

And, I do have to say that in the long run...wedding colors really don't matter. I am much more excited to be married to Dustin than to be planning this wedding. It'll be SO nice when it's all over!

But, on to my Something Blue!

My lovely dear friend Gabrielle volunteered to knit me something for the wedding. I requested a garter...in blue :) I also requested an amazing alpaca silk blend yarn...if you haven't felt alpaca and silk together, you have no idea what I'm talking about...but it feels like butter on your skin!

I can't wait to see what you come up with, Gabrielle! ♥

Something Borrowed...68 Days!

Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed...

These earrings were borrowed to me by my lovely mother. I love them! They will be so perfect for the big day!

I also have a beautiful pearl necklace that I purchased at the flea market last month that goes with it beautifully. I am planning on having my bridesmaids all wear pearls in some way as well :)

So, that's it for today! I do have some fun things to blog about tomorrow!

Something New...10 weeks!!

Something Old, Something New...

Up until this last week I honestly didn't have ANYTHING "new" to wear for my wedding! Sure, pretty much everything is new-to-me, but being the thrifty gal I am, nothing was actually never-used-from-the-store-new.

UNTIL...(drum roll!)

I found the shoes I've been DREAMING of since I saw them on pinterest MONTHS ago! The shoes were $60, which was a number I wasn't willing to pay without being able to try them on and be sure they were the right color, etc. I went shopping with Brandy and Olivia (my maid of honor), and we went to DSW to look for some shoes...nothing in particular though. I definitely had not anticipated buying any shoes, but I spotted these on the clearance rack. The only thing I'm slightly worried about is my heels siiiiinnnnkkkking into the grass. Or breaking my ankle walking down the aisle. Or breaking my ankle just standing there and wobbling. I think I'll make it though :)

Today I also had the great priviledge of attending my "big sister," Taryn Hermanson's (now Frazier!) wedding! I'm so happy for her...she was such a beautiful bride. I played my violin for her ceremony, but got some pre-ceremony pictures of her. I can't wait to see how they turned out :)

Something Old...72 Days :)

The next few days I'm going to run a series of blog posts with my ideas for the old saying "Something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue."

Today I'm starting with....dun dun dun (that was supposed to sound-or look-somewhat menacing) Something Old!

For my "something old" I'm using my wedding gown!

I love my wedding dress, but I went off to the Bridal Shop this week to try on a few gowns that were under $1000. Thankfully, I didn't really fall in love with any of them. I have such specific taste in bridal gowns that nothing in my price range really suited me or my body type. (That's what the $5,000 dresses are for!)

I just got my own dress back from the dry cleaners today! I can't believe it cost $50 to clean it....but it looks fabulous. They also graciously gave me 15% off  so my grand total was $46 and some odd cents :). I scheduled my first appointment with my alterations lady for next Saturday! I'm looking forward to meeting her and sharing my ideas for transforming my wedding dress into the dress of my dreams!

75 Days!

I can't believe there are *only* 75 days left before our wedding! It seems like yesterday that I was at an impatient stage of 130 some odd days.

Brandy and I have spent our weekend working on invitations!

Brandy has been such a help to me in the making of the invitations!

Alright, so here is a basic price breakdown of my invitations:
$15.08 for 250 sheets of paper = $.06 per invitation
$3.15 for a seal stamp (price per invite is dependent on the number of invitations)
$8.15 for 12 sticks of gold sealing wax (again dependent on the number of invitations...but the estimated price is about $.06 per invite)
Postage is still $.45 a stamp.

I'm really excited to see how much this all ends up being!
